Snowy Mountains

The Snowy Mountains, the highest in Australia are approximately 50km south of Cooma. They offer spectacular scenery, views and lookouts. There is a wonderful variety of flora and fauna and coupled with the region’s rich history means there is so much for people see and do.

If you are planning to visit the region by car, please exercise caution when driving on mountain roads, as some roads are unsealed. Ensure you have ample fuel for the journey and take your time to ensure you enjoy the experience.

It is wise to take warm clothing, even in summer, as weather conditions can change quickly.

A fee is charged for entry to Kosciuszko National Park. In winter snow chains, by law, must be carried and fitted, if instructed, by the National Parks and Wildlife Service or Police Officers.
